Cardiovascular monitoring is the measurement of real-time characteristics of
blood flow and vascular behavior in the living body.
Many of the current clinical practices used to derive cardiovascular information
are invasive and expose both the care-giver and patient to the risks of blood
borne diseases such as AIDS and hepatitis. Invasive procedures also pose a risk
of infection and complications that ultimately lead to extended hospital stays.

In addition, many of the techniques currently used are discrete measurements
that are labor intensive and highly technique sensitive.
The availability of continuous, non-invasive cardiovascular monitoring will
